The Berlin Conspiracy

Tom Gabbay

A first novel by a TV producer, this is a cold war novel set in Berlin in 1963. It revolves around an attempt to assassinate John F. Kennedy during his Berlin visit. Since we know that didn't happen, we know the ending of the book, so the story is in the journey. The writter is a TV and movie scriptwriter, so the novel seems like a movie script at time, but fun. There are some surprises along the way, but the book doesn't really give a great sense of place. The setting is two years after the Berlin Wall goes up, and more could have been done with it, but all in all, a good first effort.
