Subtitled "The Kingkiller Chronicle, Book I", this is the first in a fantasy trilogy. It is a bit different, and I enjoyed it. It is an original book in a crowded field which sometimes becomes formalistic. This is a first novel and Rothfuss has written a strong book with strong characters. The second book in the series is not yet published, but I intend to read it. This book is a 'coming of age' story, another common theme, but done in a different way. To some it would seem slow, but the 'story is in the telling' and the story is a journey, and it is a story well told.
