If you have never sampled Leon's wonderful stories of Venice, do so. They are classified as 'mysteries', but they are so much more. The series features Guido Brunetti, the commissioner of police in Venice, but it also features his family, friends and, most importantly, Venice. Guido lives in a fifth floor apartment with his wife and two children inside the city itself, so we get to travel with him through the streets, walkways, canals and campos of Venice. And this is an interesting journey, especially if you have ever visited the city. This book is the fifth in the series and is hard to find. It revisits characters introduced in the first book, Death at La Fenice. That book is easy to find and should be read first. A good map of Venice helps also. I very much recommend this series.
