The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

A Tommy Lee Jones movie is always worth a look and this one is no exception. Not an easy movie. A lot of it is in Spanish and there are no sub-titles. A lot of the last part of the movie is in Mexico and if you don't know Spanish you have to guess at just exactly is taking place. And the movie is on the long side. That said, it is worth the time. Jones not only stars but also directed this production. The first part of the film includes flashbacks, and they are not exactly spelled out, so things can get confusing. I thought the story would have worked better if told linear, but that would have held the main character (Jones) out of the action for at least 30 minutes, and we can't have that! The editing could have been a little tighter but the film is beautifully shot and the acting is great. Melissa Leo has a strong part and does it well. Jones is his usual strong, silent type. An overlooked movie. Check it out.
